The Grimy Times has learned that two Wichita men have been indicted in a federal case involving heroin and fentanyl.
According to sources close to the investigation, Jose Rodriguez-Cardenas, 46, and Felix Rodriguez-Flores, 42, are both accused of operating a large-scale drug trafficking ring in the Wichita area.
The indictment, returned by a federal grand jury in Wichita, charges the duo with one count of heroin conspiracy and one count of fentanyl conspiracy. They are also accused of possessing and distributing heroin, fentanyl, and methamphetamine.
Rodriguez-Cardenas is charged with four additional counts of distributing a controlled substance, as well as possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl with intent to distribute. His charges include:
one count of heroin conspiracy, one count of fentanyl conspiracy, and one count of possession of heroin with intent to distribute;
four counts of distribution of a controlled substance;
one count of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute;
and one count of possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute.
Rodriguez-Flores is charged with six counts of distributing a controlled substance, as well as possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute. His charges include:
six counts of distribution of a controlled substance;
and one count of possession of fentanyl with intention to distribute.
The FBI and the Wichita Police Department are currently investigating the case, with Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Katie Andrusak set to prosecute.
An indictment is merely an allegation and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
The alleged conspiracy, if proven, would be a significant blow to the local narcotics trade, and a testament to the dedication and hard work of law enforcement agencies in the Wichita area.
