Rogers Man Sentenced to 30 Years for Child Pornography

A 39-year-old man from Rogers, Arkansas, has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for producing and possessing child pornography. Jason Fields was sentenced on yesterday in the United States District Court in Fayetteville.

The investigation into Fields began in October 2017, when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reported that a northwest Arkansas resident had distributed an image of child pornography via the internet application "Chatstep." Law enforcement obtained a search warrant for Fields’ residence, which was executed on November 3, 2017.

Fields was read his Miranda rights and confirmed that he had sent and received images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct via the internet. He also stated that he had saved several such images to a thumb-drive located in his laptop computer. Additionally, Fields told law enforcement that he had taken nude images of an approximately 5-year-old male.

A subsequent forensic examination of Fields’ devices revealed over 100 images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Some of the minors depicted in the images were as young as approximately 2 years of age.

Fields was indicted in December 2017 and pleaded guilty in January 2018. The case was investigated by the Department of Homeland Security, the Arkansas State Police, and the Northwest Arkansas Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, and the Rogers Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Dustin Roberts prosecuted the case for the United States.

The sentencing hearing was presided over by the Honorable Timothy L. Brooks. Fields will serve 30 years in federal prison without the possibility of parole, followed by 20 years of supervised release.

Law enforcement agencies and prosecutors have commended the efforts of all parties involved in the case, stating that it is a significant victory for the community and a testament to the commitment to combating child exploitation.
