South Bend, Indiana – In a shocking turn of events, 46-year-old Ronald Simmons of Goshen, Indiana has pleaded guilty to taking, killing or possessing migratory birds. According to sources, the investigation was conducted by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service.
Magistrate Judge Christopher A. Nuechterlein presided over the case and is recommending that the district court accept the guilty plea. However, parties have 14 days to object to the recommendation.
The charge stems from an investigation by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service. Sentencing has been set for April 8, 2014, and will be determined by the judge after considering federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.

Javier Montoya, 33, of Howe, Indiana, was sentenced to 21 months imprisonment with 3 years of supervised release for conspiracy to distribute cocaine. Montoya was found to have participated in a multi-person arrangement to distribute cocaine from 2012 to 2013.
Tenneil Selner, 34, of South Bend, Indiana, was also sentenced to 21 months imprisonment with 2 years of supervised release for distribution of pseudoephedrine. Selner was found to have purchased pseudoephedrine four times at drug stores in the Northern District of Indiana in 2011, before turning it over to individuals with histories of illegal drug manufacturing.
