Yuridia Rosas-Luna, Alien Smuggling, Florida 2024

Jacksonville, Florida – Yuridia Rosas-Luna, a 35-year-old Mexican national, has entered a guilty plea in federal court for her role in transporting undocumented aliens across the United States. According to U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe, Rosas-Luna was paid to facilitate illegal presence in the country.

The scheme unraveled when Nassau County Sheriff’s Office deputies stopped Rosas-Luna on May 21, 2024, for reckless driving. The vehicle she was driving contained three passengers, all unable to provide identification. Deputies found Mexican IDs on each of them and discovered that one had been previously removed from the U.S.

During her interrogation, Rosas-Luna initially claimed she was taking a passenger to see family but later said she had picked up a friend for medical treatment in Tampa. She admitted knowing the passengers were Mexican and revealed she would have received $1,500 for the transport from Georgia to Florida.

This case is another blow against human trafficking networks, with investigations led by U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Homeland Security Investigations. Assistant United States Attorneys Elisibeth Adams and Ashley Washington are prosecuting the case.

Should Rosas-Luna be sentenced to the maximum term of 10 years in federal prison, it would mark a severe penalty for her involvement in illegal immigration activities.

“This conviction sends a clear message that we will not tolerate those who exploit vulnerable individuals by engaging in human trafficking,” Kehoe stated. A sentencing date has yet to be scheduled.
