A Dubuque man has admitted to possessing a firearm after being convicted of eleven felonies, violating federal law.
Rosnel Larose, age 32, of Dubuque, pleaded guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm in federal court in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
According to the plea agreement, Larose admitted to possessing a pistol in January 2022. He is currently in the custody of the United States Marshal pending sentencing.
Larose faces a possible maximum sentence of ten years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release following any imprisonment.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a federal initiative aimed at reducing violent crime. Through PSN, law enforcement agencies and community stakeholders work together to identify and address violent crime problems in their communities.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mark Tremmel and was investigated by the Dubuque Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
