Tampa, FL – Mortgage Scandal Rocks JP Morgan Chase Bank

Tampa, FL – In a shocking turn of events, 63-year-old Ross D. Pickard, a former senior loan officer at JP Morgan Chase Bank, has been indicted on mortgage fraud charges. According to the indictment, Pickard conspired with others in a scheme to defraud the bank by completing, certifying, and submitting mortgage loan applications that contained false and fraudulent statements.

The indictment alleges that Pickard lied on loan applications, stating false occupancy, overinflated income, and understated liabilities. By relying on Pickard’s false statements, JP Morgan Chase was induced into funding mortgage loans for borrowers who were otherwise unqualified.

Pickard faces up to 5 years in federal prison for the conspiracy count and up to 30 years on each of the fraud counts if convicted. The indictment also notifies him that the United States is seeking a money judgment for the proceeds of the charged criminal conduct.

An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has violated one or more federal criminal laws, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty.

The case was investigated by the Federal Housing Finance Agency – Office of Inspector General and the Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigations Division. It will be prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Chris Poor.

The indictment highlights the need for increased scrutiny of mortgage lending practices and the importance of holding individuals accountable for their actions.

Pickard’s indictment serves as a reminder that mortgage fraud is a serious crime that can have devastating consequences for individuals and communities.

As the investigation continues, one thing is clear: the integrity of our financial system must be protected at all costs.
