A brutal attack on a fellow inmate in a Craig County Jail cell has led to sentences for four men. The assault, which occurred on February 21, 2020, left the victim with serious injuries.
The victim was punched and kicked by codefendants Roy Brayboy, Chance Thomison, Adam Ramsey, and Mark Amos while they were all being held at the Craig County Jail. Officers responded to the scene and found the victim lying on the floor.
The victim suffered injuries to his brain, fractures to his nose and ribs, and swelling in the face during the attack. The defendants all pleaded guilty to assault resulting in serious bodily injury in Indian Country.
Roy Brayboy, 25, was sentenced to 18 months in prison followed by two years of supervised release. The investigation was conducted by the FBI, and the case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney David A. Nasar.
Prior to Brayboy’s sentence, Chance Thomison, 24, was sentenced to 57 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. Mark Amos, 25, and Adam Ramsey, 31, received 41-month prison sentences followed by three years of supervised release.
The brutal assault highlights the dangers of violence in our prisons. The sentences handed down to these defendants are a testament to the importance of holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.
