A Worcester man is facing serious consequences after being caught with an arsenal of firearms and ammunition.
Ryan Davidson, 39, pleaded guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition and one count of possessing an unregistered firearm-silencer.
The charges stem from an incident on May 9, 2023, when Davidson was stopped by police for a marked lane violation in Worcester. During the stop, he fled the scene on foot, but was eventually apprehended in a nearby backyard.
During the inventory search of Davidson’s vehicle, police found a heavy black bag containing a black balaclava, a zipped blue bag, a Polymer P80 9-millimeter pistol with no serial number, a silencer, and a box of 9-millimeter ammunition.
Davidson also had a Taurus 9-millimeter pistol with a round in the chamber and a magazine inserted containing six rounds of 9-millimeter ammunition. He had previously been convicted of felonies for which he had been sentenced to 7-10 years in prison.
The charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition provides a sentence of up to 15 years’ incarceration. The charge of possessing an unregistered firearm provides a sentence of up to 10 years’ incarceration.
Davidson is scheduled to be sentenced on July 15, 2025, in U.S. District Court in Worcester.
The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing gun violence and other violent crime.
Davidson’s guilty plea is a significant blow to the community, which had been plagued by gun violence in recent years.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of community-based initiatives and law enforcement cooperation in preventing and addressing violent crime.
