A Carson City resident has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for his role in a disturbing child pornography case.
Ryan Ray Tetirick, 44, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Larry R. Hicks to 120 months in federal prison and lifetime supervised release, announced U.S. Attorney Dayle Elieson for the District of Nevada.
Tetirick pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography.
The case began on April 19, 2017, when law enforcement members from the Northern Online Child Exploitation Task Force executed a search warrant at Tetirick’s residence.
During the execution of the search warrant, Tetirick agreed to a consensual interview with law enforcement officers. He admitted to downloading and possessing child pornography in the past, but denied doing so recently. He also stated his electronic files were password protected and that he used a ‘cleaner’ software program to delete files.
A forensic examination of his computer and other electronic devices revealed approximately 125 images and 8 videos of child pornography, including infants. One computer and one external hard drive were seized.
The case was investigated by the Northern Online Child Exploitation Task Force, which includes members from the FBI, ICE-HSI, the Nevada Attorney General’s Office, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, and the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office.
Assistant U.S. Attorney James E. Keller prosecuted the case.
Tetirick is required to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.
