Sammy Stabber, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, South Dakota 2024

Rapid City, SD – In a move to bring justice to the community, U.S. District Judge Camela C. Theeler has sentenced Sammy Stabber, 55, to six years and eight months in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.

According to the indictment, Stabber was found to be in possession of over three ounces of methamphetamine during a traffic stop in Rapid City in August 2023. He was arrested and later found to have absconded from parole. Stabber pleaded guilty to the charges on August 13, 2024.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Rapid City Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Anna Lindrooth prosecuted the case.

Stabber was sentenced to six years and eight months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in communities across the country.

Stabber was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service after the sentencing.
