San Antonio Man Sentenced for Sexually Exploiting Child
A San Antonio man has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for sexually exploiting a child.
Samson Luna, 36, was arrested on March 24, 2024, and charged with one count of sexual exploitation of a child and two counts of possession of child pornography.
According to court documents, Luna began sexually assaulting a minor female in 2013 and continued until January 2024. To record and produce photos of the sexual assaults, Luna used multiple phones. He also persuaded the child victim to send him videos and images of her nude, and performing sexual acts, which the child victim would send him via her cellphone. In exchange, Luna sent her money from his Cash App account.
A search warrant of Luna’s Google account resulted in the discovery of 87 videos and 45 images depicting Child Sexual Abuse Material of the victim at various ages over the 10 years.
Luna pleaded guilty to the sexual exploitation charge on March 25, 2025. In addition to the 25-year imprisonment and 15 years of supervised release, Senior U.S. District Judge David Ezra ordered Luna to pay $100,000 in restitution to the victim.
The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and the Abilene Police Department, and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Tracy Thompson.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006. Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
