LUBBOCK, Texas — In a shocking development, 38-year-old Jeffrey Neal Cuddington, once a resident of San Angelo, has been sentenced to 188 months in federal prison for his despicable crime of distributing and possessing child pornography.
Cuddington, who most recently lived in Maryland and Virginia, admitted to using his computers to seek out and download images and videos depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. On October 11, 2012, Cuddington distributed three images and received one image, all involving prepubescent female children under the age of 18 years.
Senior U.S. District Judge Sam R. Cummings handed down the severe sentence after Cuddington pleaded guilty to one count of receipt and distribution of a visual depiction of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct in December 2016, as announced by U.S. Attorney John Parker of the Northern District of Texas.
The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative that has been combating child sexual exploitation and abuse since its launch in 2006. The Department of Justice’s program leverages federal, state, and local resources to identify, apprehend, and prosecute those who exploit children, as well as to rescue victims.
U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Texas Department of Public Safety led the investigation into Cuddington’s heinous activities. Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven M. Sucsy handled the prosecution with unwavering dedication.
