Michael Johnson, Sex Trafficking, New York 2024

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – Michael Johnson, a man known on the streets as “Wise,” is facing a potential life sentence after a federal jury found him guilty today of running a brutal sex trafficking operation out of the Sayville Motor Lodge on Long Island. The verdict, delivered after a grueling two-week trial before United States District Judge Joanna Seybert, marks a significant blow against a network that preyed on vulnerable women for years.

Johnson, 45, was convicted on four counts of a superseding indictment, including sex trafficking conspiracy, sex trafficking, and interstate prostitution. Prosecutors laid out a disturbing case detailing how Johnson and his co-conspirators used the motel near Sunrise Highway as a base of operations, exploiting women through a combination of force, threats, fraud, and drug manipulation. He faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years behind bars, but the sentence could stretch to life, depending on the judge’s decision.

“Today’s verdict holds the defendant accountable for all of the cruelty and violence to women caused by his depraved sex trafficking,” declared United States Attorney Joseph Nocella, Jr. at a press conference following the announcement. “Johnson and his co-conspirators exhibited utter disregard for the human lives they destroyed by profiting off the backs of vulnerable women. It is my hope that Johnson’s conviction brings some measure of comfort to his victims, including those who bravely testified at the trial.”

The FBI’s Assistant Director in Charge, Christopher G. Raia, painted a grim picture of Johnson’s methods. “Michael Johnson trafficked multiple women into sexual slavery to profit off their bodies, while maintaining their subservience through social isolation, physical abuse and threats of death, and addictive drugs,” Raia stated. “For years, Johnson demonstrated extreme depravity as he physically and emotionally traumatized numerous women to satisfy his own greedy desires.”

The investigation revealed a wider network of complicity. An initial indictment in November 2022 implicated motel owners Narendarakuma Dadarwala and his wife Shardaben Dadarwala, their son Jigar Dadarwala, Ashokbhai Patel, and Himanshu, Inc. d/b/a Sayville Motor Lodge, with charges ranging from sex trafficking conspiracy to managing a drug premises. A superseding indictment in September 2025 added three additional sex trafficking counts against Johnson himself. Suffolk County Police Commissioner Kevin Catalina emphasized the collaborative effort that brought Johnson to justice. “This case serves as a warning to anyone who seeks to manipulate or abuse others — justice will find you,” he said.

The evidence presented at trial showed that from approximately 2014 to 2022, Johnson operated as a pimp, controlling every aspect of the victims’ lives – from confiscating their earnings and advertising their services online, to dictating rates and manipulating them with drugs. The Sayville Motor Lodge, once a seemingly innocuous roadside stop, is now synonymous with a dark chapter in Long Island’s criminal history. The case remains open as authorities continue to investigate the full extent of the trafficking network and bring all those involved to account.
