Scarborough Sentenced For Las Vegas Meth Trafficking

Las Vegas’s grim streets saw justice served as Brian Scarborough, 47, from Henderson, was sentenced to 65 months in prison for his role in a massive methamphetamine trafficking conspiracy. The court documents paint a chilling portrait of the drug network that operated across state lines.

Starting from an unknown date up until April 17, 2019, Scarborough conspired with Miriam Elizabeth Suarez-Contreras, known as “Ella” and “Liz,” who was the mastermind behind this criminal enterprise. Suarez-Contreras, a Mexican national, ordered methamphetamine orders over the phone while in California and then dispatched drug couriers to Las Vegas for delivery.

The feds finally got their man on April 3, 2019, when they executed a search warrant at Scarborough’s hotel room in Las Vegas. What they found was alarming: about 130 grams of methamphetamine and a loaded 9mm handgun.

Scarborough is just the ninth defendant to plead guilty in this case, which has seen several harsh sentences handed down. His co-defendants have faced penalties ranging from time served to 135 months in prison. Miriam Elizabeth Suarez-Contreras, the organizer of the conspiracy, was sentenced to a staggering 135 months.

United States Attorney Jason M. Frierson and Special Agent in Charge Spencer L. Evans for the FBI announced the sentencing. This case was a result of the hard work of the Safe Streets Gang Task Force, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, and the North Las Vegas Police Department.

The investigation is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation, which aims to dismantle drug trafficking organizations across the country. For more information on the OCDETF Program, visit here.
