San Diego – The grim tale of betrayal and exploitation unfolded today as Sean Stevenson, former science teacher at University City High School, pleaded guilty in federal court to attempting to entice a minor. Stevenson’s despicable actions were uncovered during another sex trafficking investigation, where he was caught seeking commercial sex with a 16-year-old girl.
Stevenson’s arrest came in October 2023 when he arrived at a pre-arranged meet-up location, unaware that his plans were thwarted by an undercover agent. His plea agreement reveals a chilling conversation via text message with someone posing as ‘Kash,’ where he sought to find a female under 18 for sex. Stevenson was caught negotiating fees and arranging a meeting, offering $150 for oral copulation without protection and more.
“Instead of a protector, this teacher became a predator,” said U.S. Attorney Tara McGrath. “Through swift justice, we have continued to protect children from exploitation.” Christopher Davis of HSI San Diego echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to combating human trafficking and sexual exploitation of minors.
Stevenson is set to be sentenced on September 5, 2024. The case underscores the need for vigilance and reporting, with law enforcement agencies urging anyone with information to come forward.
