Ida Grove Man Lands 10-Year Prison Sentence for Child Pornography
A 49-year-old Ida Grove man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for his role in a child pornography case, according to a recent federal court ruling. Scott Allen Tomlinson was convicted of possessing child pornography and using a cellular phone to access the images on the cloud.
A thorough investigation led by the State of Iowa Department of Public Safety uncovered a cache of dozens of images from Tomlinson’s cloud-based storage system. The images depicted sadistic and masochistic conduct and portrayed the sexual abuse or exploitation of a minor.
Tomlinson’s sentencing occurred on April 18, 2024, in Sioux City by United States District Court Chief Judge Leonard T. Strand. The judge handed down a 10-year prison term, ordering Tomlinson to pay $2,600 in fines and assessments. He will also serve a 5-year term of supervised release after his prison term.
Tomlinson is currently being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison. The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
