A Texas man has been arrested for allegedly possessing child pornography while working as a school bus driver in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Scott O’Toole, 60, of Joshua, Texas, was charged with one count of possession of child pornography in the District of Alaska.
The charge carries a sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
O’Toole was working as a school bus driver in Fairbanks on a Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY) between November and December 2024.
According to court documents, the Fairbanks Police Department received information in December 2024 that a USB drive found in a hotel business center allegedly contained child sexual abuse materials.
The FBI Anchorage Field Office processed the USB drive for forensic review and found images on the drive allegedly depicting child sexual abuse, linking it to O’Toole.
Within 24 hours of the FBI’s review, law enforcement identified and located O’Toole in Texas, and he was arrested shortly thereafter.
O’Toole is currently facing one count of possession of child pornography in the District of Alaska.
If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison.
A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
The FBI Anchorage Field Office is investigating the case, with assistance from the Fairbanks Police Department and the Texas State Troopers.

O’Toole is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
A criminal complaint is merely an allegation, and all defendants are assumed innocent until proven guilty.
