Victorious Minter, Road Rage Pistol Offense, Pennsylvania 2024

SCRANTON – In a gritty turn of justice, Victorious Minter, 28, of Scranton, PA, was today sentenced to 100 months’ imprisonment by United States District Court Judge Robert D. Mariani for his involvement in a firearms offense related to a road rage incident.

Minter faced the court after being caught with a loaded Glock 22 .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol, containing 24 rounds in an extended magazine, following a previous conviction for a crime carrying a sentence of more than one year. The evidence against him was overwhelming as a four-day trial in February of 2024 revealed Minter’s actions during the incident.

On January 5, 2022, while driving on the North Scranton Expressway, Minter waved his pistol at another driver in a fit of road rage. The driver, fearing for his safety and those around him, dialed 911. Scranton Police Department officers promptly responded to the call, spotting Minter’s car and initiating a traffic stop. During the stop, they discovered the loaded firearm concealed in the front passenger seat next to Minter’s girlfriend, with Minter’s two-year-old child safely seated in the back.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), Scranton Police Department, and Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office meticulously investigated this case. Assistant United States Attorney James Buchanan prosecuted it with unwavering determination.

This sentencing is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a collaborative effort aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence across neighborhoods. Launched on May 26, 2021, the Department’s strategy focuses on fostering trust within communities, supporting local organizations preventing violence, strategic law enforcement priorities, and measurable results.

As Minter begins his sentence, Scranton residents hope this sends a strong message against gun violence and road rage. The ATF, police, and prosecution have shown that their efforts to keep neighborhoods safe are not in vain.
