Sean Kingston and Mother Charged with Wire Fraud in Miami

By Grimy Times Staff

MIAMI – In a shocking turn of events, Grammy-nominated singer Sean Kingston, 34, and his mother Janice Turner, 61, have been charged with wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud in a scheme that defrauded victim sellers of high-end specialty vehicles, jewelry, and other goods.

According to the indictment, Kingston and Turner used fraudulent documents to obtain over $1 million in property, falsely representing that they had executed bank wire or other monetary payment transfers as payment for the items purchased.

The indictment alleges that the defendants unjustly enriched themselves by retaining or attempting to retain the vehicles, jewelry, and other goods despite non-payment. If convicted, each defendant faces up to 20 years in prison on each count.

Kisean Anderson a/k/a “Sean Kingston,” and Janice Turner, both from Southwest Ranches, FL, made their first appearance in federal court to face the charges.

The United States Secret Service and the Broward Sheriff’s Office investigated this case. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Marc Anton and Trevor Jones.

Attorney Markenzy Lapointe for the Southern District of Florida; Special Agent in Charge Rafael Barros, United States Secret Service, Miami Field Office; and Sheriff Dr. Gregory Tony of the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO), made the announcement.

“This case highlights the importance of protecting the public from sophisticated schemes that target vulnerable individuals,” said Attorney Lapointe.

An indictment and criminal complaint contain mere allegations, and all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
