CHARLOTTE, N.C. – In a gritty blow against the methamphetamine trade, 29-year-old Sebastian Lefevers of Connelly Springs, N.C., was today sentenced to 120 months in federal prison for his role as a trafficker of the deadly drug.
Lefevers, who pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine on March 30, 2022, was arrested after police utilized a confidential source to arrange a transaction. During the sting operation, authorities recovered three ounces of pure meth from Lefevers, totaling over $3,500 in drug proceeds.
Further investigation led to the seizure of nearly two kilograms of marijuana, packaging materials, four firearms, and additional drugs, indicating Lefevers’ involvement in trafficking more than 13 kilograms of meth across Catawba County and surrounding areas. The evidence suggests a well-organized operation aimed at distributing the drug locally.
U.S. District Judge Kenneth D. Bell handed down the sentence, which also includes five years of supervised release following his prison term. Lefevers remains in federal custody and will be transferred to Bureau of Prisons facilities upon designation.
The investigation into Lefevers was a collaborative effort involving multiple agencies, including the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF), Watauga County Sheriff’s Office, Burke County Sheriff’s Office, and the Hickory Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Taylor G. Stout prosecuted the case.
U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina, Dena J. King, commended all involved in bringing this criminal to justice, highlighting their dedication to tackling drug trafficking in the region.
