Seminole Man Pleads Guilty to Meth Distribution
A Seminole man has pleaded guilty to distributing methamphetamine in Oklahoma. Rodney Phillip Aird, 50, entered the guilty plea in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma in Muskogee.
According to the indictment, Aird knowingly and intentionally possessed with the intent to distribute 5 grams or more of methamphetamine (actual), a Schedule II controlled substance, on or about August 13, 2017.
The charge arose from an investigation by the Seminole Nation Tribal Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Assistant United States Attorney John David Luton represented the United States. Aird is facing not less than 5 years and not more than 40 years imprisonment, and up to a $5,000,000.00 fine or both.
The Honorable Kimberly E. West, U.S. Magistrate Judge, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report. Aird will remain in custody pending a sentencing hearing.
The plea is a significant blow to those involved in the distribution of methamphetamine in Oklahoma. The investigation and prosecution of Aird demonstrate the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combatting the opioid epidemic and holding those responsible accountable.
