La Crosse Man Sentenced to 11 Years for Possessing Methamphetamine for Distribution

MADISON, WIS. – In a shocking move, Seth Strand, 31, of La Crosse, Wisconsin, has been sentenced to 11 years in federal prison for possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

The crime took place on January 22, 2020, when Strand was a passenger in a Ford Explorer that was pulled over by the Wisconsin State Patrol in La Crosse County. Troopers arrested Strand after being notified of a felony arrest warrant for him.

A search of the Explorer revealed a safe behind the passenger seat, which contained a key to the safe. The safe itself held approximately 407 grams of methamphetamine, a significant amount that raises concerns about Strand’s intentions.

During a post-arrest interview, Strand admitted that he intended to sell the methamphetamine to several individuals in La Crosse County. This admission, coupled with the large quantity of methamphetamine found, paints a picture of a serious crime.

Strand’s extensive criminal history, including four felony drug trafficking convictions since 2013, did not go unnoticed by Judge William M. Conley. The judge noted that Strand’s sentence was appropriate, given his history and the circumstances of the crime.

The investigation into Strand’s activities was conducted by the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron Wegner handled the prosecution of the case.

Strand’s sentence serves as a reminder of the severe consequences of engaging in drug trafficking activities. As the opioid epidemic continues to plague communities across the country, it is essential that those responsible for spreading these deadly substances are held accountable.
