Udraka Roberts-Bey, Sex Trafficking of a Minor, Louisiana 2016

BATON ROUGE, LA – A disturbing case of sex trafficking has reached its conclusion as UDRAKA ROBERTS-BEY, 26, from New Orleans, Louisiana, pleaded guilty in federal court. Roberts-Bey admitted to conspiring with others to exploit a 15-year-old minor through commercial sex acts.

The heinous offense took place in June 2016 when Roberts-Bey arranged for the underage victim to engage in commercial sex acts in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. He also transported the minor between the cities for the same purpose.

Indicted by a federal grand jury in July 2016, Roberts-Bey was identified and arrested as part of a joint operation involving the Middle District of Louisiana Human Trafficking Task Force. The victim was rescued from a hotel in Baton Rouge, and law enforcement has since been working to bring justice to both the victim and society.

Acting U.S. Attorney Corey R. Amundson emphasized the district’s commitment to addressing human trafficking. ‘Predators who engage in such activity will face our unrelenting attention,’ Amundson stated.

FBI Special Agent-in-Charge Jeff Sallet echoed these sentiments, highlighting the FBI’s dedication to stopping those who exploit children. ‘Human trafficking is a heinous crime against the most vulnerable among us,’ said Sallet.

This case has been prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Paul L. Pugliese and involves collaboration between the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Louisiana, FBI New Orleans Division, East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police, and other federal, state, and local agencies.
