Shane Davison, Attempted Enticement of a Minor, South Dakota 2017

A Rapid City man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for attempting to entice multiple minor females in the Philippines to engage in criminal sexual acts using the internet for financial payment.

Shane Davison, age 37, was convicted of Attempted Enticement of a Minor and was sentenced on June 2, 2017, by Chief Judge Jeffrey L. Viken, U.S. District Court.

Davison was charged on May 24, 2016, and pleaded guilty on February 24, 2017. The conviction stems from Davison attempting to entice multiple minor females in the Philippines to engage in criminal sexual acts using the internet for financial payment.

The case was investigated by the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah B. Collins prosecuted the case.

As part of his sentence, Davison was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

He was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.

The case highlights the dangers of online predators and the importance of vigilance in protecting children from harm.
