A Corsica man has been sentenced to 188 months in custody for his role in a child pornography case, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Shawn E. Stevens, 26, was sentenced on March 4, 2012, by U.S. District Judge Karen E. Schreier for Receipt and Distribution of Child Pornography.
Stevens was indicted for Receipt and Distribution of Child Pornography and Possession of Child Pornography by a federal grand jury on December 6, 2011. The conviction stems from Stevens’ use of two different computers and external hard drives.
The computer files that contained images of child pornography were distributed and received between October of 2009 and March of 2011.
Stevens pled guilty to the charge of Receipt and Distribution of Child Pornography on November 15, 2012.
The case was investigated by the Sioux Falls Police Department and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey C. Clapper prosecuted the case. Stevens was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshal.
This case is being brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006.
