Shawn Miller, Heroin and Crack Cocaine Distribution, Connecticut 2016

A Hamden man has been sentenced to more than 7 years in federal prison for his role in distributing heroin and crack cocaine in the New Haven area.

Shawn Miller, also known as "White Boy Shawn," 32, of Hamden, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Alker Meyer in New Haven to 90 months of imprisonment, followed by five years of supervised release, for distributing heroin and crack cocaine. Judge Meyer also ordered Miller to pay a $2,000 fine.

According to court documents and statements made in court, Miller and Paul Colon, also known as "Paul Cane," operated a New Haven area narcotics distribution ring. The investigation revealed that members of the ring took orders over a cellphone from drug customers in several shoreline communities for quantities of heroin and crack cocaine, and then delivered the drugs by car.

Miller was arrested on October 21, 2015. On June 29, 2016, he pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute, heroin and cocaine base ("crack cocaine").

Colon has pleaded guilty and awaits sentencing.

This matter has been investigated by the FBI’s New Haven Safe Streets Task Force in cooperation with the Drug Enforcement Administration and the New Haven, West Haven, Milford, Hamden and other local police departments, and the Connecticut Department of Correction. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys H. Gordon Hall and Jennifer R. Laraia.

The investigation revealed a large-scale narcotics distribution operation in the New Haven area, with Miller and Colon at the center of it. The pair took orders from customers and delivered the drugs by car, putting numerous lives at risk. This sentencing serves as a reminder of the serious consequences of involvement in narcotics distribution.

Miller’s sentence includes 90 months of imprisonment and a $2,000 fine. He will also serve five years of supervised release after his prison term.
