A heinous assault has shaken the community in New Mexico. Sheldon Livingston, 22, of Pinedale, has been accused of engaging in a sexual act with a child who had not attained the age of 12 in December 2020.
The alleged assault took place in McKinley County, on the Navajo Nation. Livingston, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, has been charged with aggravated sexual abuse.
An indictment is only an allegation, and Livingston is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty. If convicted, he faces a minimum of 30 years and up to life in prison.
The Gallup Resident Agency of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office investigated this case, bringing the accused to justice.
Prosecuting the case is Special Assistant United States Attorney Chelsea N. Van Deventer.
