A Mobile, Alabama man has been sentenced to 105 months in prison for his role in cocaine trafficking in the city.
Sheldon Terrell Peters, 45, of Mobile, was handed the sentence in United States District Court on February 18, 2025, by Judge William H. Steele.
Peters was charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute Cocaine, a felony offense that carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine.
In addition to the cocaine trafficking charge, Peters was also found to have violated the conditions of his supervised release from a 2017 federal conviction for Possession with the Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine. This violation added 30 months to his overall sentence.
According to court documents, Peters sold 47.5 grams of crack cocaine, 46.3 grams of crack cocaine, and 105.6 grams of crack cocaine to an undercover informant on three separate occasions in September and October 2022 at his home in Mobile.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney George F. May prosecuted the case.
Peters’ sentence brings an end to a long and complicated investigation into cocaine trafficking in Mobile. The city has struggled with a growing opioid and cocaine epidemic in recent years.
