Eric LaPaul Harper, Methamphetamine Trafficking Conspiracy, Beaumon…

BEAUMONT, Texas – A 39-year-old man from Silsbee has been locked up for real after a federal judge sentenced him to 240 months for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking conspiracy.

Eric LaPaul Harper faced justice today as U.S. District Judge Marcia Crone handed down the 20-year sentence for Harper’s guilty plea on January 17, 2013, to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

The grim saga began in May 2011 when Harper was pulled over in Liberty County after a wiretap caught him ordering six ounces of the drug. The stop led to the seizure of 165.8 grams of meth and uncovered a much larger operation, as surveillance revealed multiple phone conversations where Harper ordered and distributed even more.

This case is a testament to the relentless pursuit of justice by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF), which seeks to dismantle drug trafficking organizations at their core. The DEA’s investigation led to Harper being charged by a federal grand jury on March 7, 2012.

The sentence reflects the severity of Harper’s crimes and serves as a stark reminder of the consequences for those who deal in illegal drugs. Assistant U.S. Attorney Michelle Englade prosecuted the case with dedication, ensuring justice was served.

Harper will now serve his time at a federal prison facility, where he will no doubt have plenty of time to reflect on the choices that landed him behind bars.
