Alexander Summers, Methamphetamine Conspiracy, Iowa 2023

GRIMY NEWS – Alexander Summers, a 30-year-old resident of Sioux City, Iowa, was handed a 150-month federal prison sentence for his role in a massive methamphetamine conspiracy. The sentence, announced on September 17, 2025, caps a grim saga that saw Summers distribute nearly one pound of pure meth on one occasion.

In plea and sentencing hearings held in Sioux City, evidence revealed that Summers conspired with others to peddle the deadly substance in the region for about five months in 2023. His reign of terror ended when he was caught distributing a staggering amount of meth to an individual working with law enforcement.

Summers, who also admitted to trafficking over two and a half pounds of meth and aiding another person’s distribution efforts in exchange for housing in Sioux City, faces a grueling 12 years behind bars. He must serve a subsequent five-year supervised release term upon his release from prison. There is no parole in the federal system, leaving Summers with little hope for early freedom.

The sentencing was presided over by United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand. The sentence of 150 months’ imprisonment and a mandatory five-year supervised release term leaves no room for leniency. Summers remains in the custody of the United States Marshal until he can be transported to a federal prison facility.

Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde led the prosecution, while the Tri-State Drug Task Force, an elite law enforcement collaboration, conducted the investigation. The task force includes personnel from various agencies, including the DEA, Sioux City Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, and more. The case file number is 24-4051.
