Sir Michael Morgan Jr., Second Degree Murder, Oklahoma 2022

A devastating incident in north Tulsa on January 29, 2022, left an 18-year-old dead and another teenager critically injured. The case has finally reached a resolution, with Sir Michael Morgan Jr., 19, of Tulsa, pleading guilty to second degree murder in Indian Country.

According to the investigation, Morgan initiated the shooting that resulted in the death of Isaiah Jones, 18, and seriously injured a 17-year-old. The motive behind the shooting was Morgan’s belief that Jones was involved in the shooting of his friend in a previous incident. During an exchange of gunfire, Morgan was also shot.

An individual who knew the two victims witnessed the gunshots from inside his home and transported the victims to the hospital. Once there, Jones was pronounced dead from multiple gunshot wounds. The second victim survived with serious injuries. Morgan was transported by ambulance to the hospital where he was treated for two gunshot wounds.

The FBI and Tulsa Police Department conducted the investigation, working tirelessly to uncover the truth behind the tragic events. Assistant U.S. Attorney Stacey P. Todd is prosecuting the case to ensure justice is served.
