⏱ 2 min read

A brutal murder in an Okemah apartment complex sparked a frantic escape by the killer, Michael Wayne Lambert, who had Sejaryee Lee Bear cover his tracks. On June 30, 2024, Lambert shot and killed the victim, and Bear helped him flee the scene.

Bear turned off her phone’s location services, deleted records of her interactions, and accompanied Lambert to a river bridge, where he discarded the murder weapon. The feds pieced together the evidence and took Bear down on August 12, 2025, when she pleaded guilty to Accessory After the Fact—Murder in Indian Country.

On April 2, 2026, Lambert was sentenced to life in prison for Murder in Indian Country and an additional ten years for Discharge of a Firearm During and in Relation to a Crime of Violence.

The Honorable Ronald A. White, a senior judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, handed down the sentence to Bear. She received time served, 147 days, for her crime, followed by two years of supervised release.
