A 66-year-old Okemah man has admitted to preying on a 12-year-old victim in Indian Country. Raymond Lewis Spain pleaded guilty to one count of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in Indian Country, punishable by up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
The abuse happened in Okfuskee County, within the boundaries of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Reservation, between March 2020 and March 2024.
The FBI investigation led to Spain’s arrest and subsequent guilty plea. Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicole Paladino represented the government.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Jason A. Robertson accepted the plea and ordered a presentence investigation report. A U.S. District Court Judge will determine the sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other factors.
