A violent offender with a history of burglary and domestic abuse was slapped with a 12-year sentence for possessing a firearm in Oklahoma City.
IZAVIA MARQUIS SMITH, 29, was pulled over by cops on August 12, 2025, for swerving across multiple lanes of traffic. During the stop, officers found a small bag of cocaine, a handgun, and live ammo in his possession.
Smith’s rap sheet includes multiple felony convictions, including second-degree burglary, domestic abuse, and first-degree burglary. He pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm on October 22, 2025.
U.S. District Judge Jodi W. Dishman handed down the sentence on April 20, 2026, citing the need to protect the public and deter future crimes.
Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Laney Ellis prosecuted the case, with the ATF and Oklahoma City Police Department leading the investigation.
