⏱ 2 min read

A registered sex offender disappeared 13 years ago after staging a crime scene and fleeing Oklahoma, but was finally caught and convicted, authorities announced Wednesday.

Anthony Michael Lennon, 44, formerly of Moore, was found guilty of failure to register as a sex offender in a federal trial that ended April 17, 2026, according to U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.

Lennon vanished on March 12, 2012, after authorities discovered evidence of a violent struggle at a local hotel, but crime scene experts later determined the scene had been staged.

At the time of his disappearance, Lennon faced child pornography charges in Cleveland County District Court and was on a suspended sentence from a prior conviction.

He had emptied his bank accounts before vanishing and was last seen in a distant location, 1,500 miles from Oklahoma, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
