A masked gunman stormed into a Tulsa home in July 2024, pointing a gun at a toddler and several others before shooting a man once in the abdomen. Bruce Mitchell Cass, 52, was found guilty by a federal jury in December 2024 and sentenced to 166 months in prison.
Cass, a felon with a history of violent crimes, including arson, will serve five years of supervised release after his prison term. The FBI, Tulsa Police Department, and Muscogee Creek Nation Lighthorse Police investigated the case, with Assistant U.S. Attorneys Aaron Jolly and Ammon Brisolara securing the conviction.
Prosecutors say Cass entered the home wearing a mask, brandishing a firearm, and shot the victim once. The victim identified Cass before undergoing emergency surgery. The crime occurred in Indian Country, a federal jurisdiction.
Tulsa Police officers responded to the scene in July 2024 and found the victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The shooting left a community shaken and highlighted the dangers of armed violence in Indian Country.
