Man Sentenced to 19 Years in Federal Prison for Distributing Child Sex Abuse Material
A disturbing case of child exploitation has come to light, with 34-year-old Skyler Shoemaker of Colorado City, Texas, sentenced to 19 years in federal prison for distributing child sex abuse material.
According to court documents, Shoemaker used Facebook Messenger to send a sexually explicit video of a four- to six-year-old child to his girlfriend, Angel Bradford. The disturbing content was part of a larger distribution effort, with Shoemaker using various platforms to distribute child pornography to other users online.
Prosecutors also revealed that Shoemaker committed sex acts in front of minors, further highlighting the severity of his crimes. His girlfriend, Angel Bradford, also faced charges for receiving the child pornography, and was sentenced to five years in federal prison on November 6, 2025.
The FBI Dallas Field Office – Abilene Resident Agency, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Abilene Police Department’s Cyber Crimes Unit conducted the investigation, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Whitney Ohlhausen prosecuting the case.
The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Justice Department to combat the epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The program marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
Shoemaker was indicted in May 2025 and pled guilty three months later to Distribution of Child Pornography. He was sentenced on December 11, 2025, to 228 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge James Wesley Hendrix.
The Justice Department’s commitment to combating child sexual exploitation is evident in this case, and serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance in protecting our children from predators.
