NEWARK, N.J. – A federal grand jury has indicted Thomas Kane Miller, 40, of Somerset County, New Jersey, charging him with distribution of a fentanyl-laden mixture that led to the tragic death of an overdose victim.
Miller stands accused of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and heroin, as well as the distribution of those drugs that resulted in death. The indictment also lists two additional counts of distributing fentanyl and heroin.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey is resolute in its fight against the fentanyl epidemic, as Alina Habba emphasizes: “This office will relentlessly hold accountable anyone who traffics fentanyl or other deadly drugs in New Jersey.”
DEA New York Special Agent in Charge Frank Tarentino echoed this sentiment, noting that Miller’s actions were a direct attack on community health. “Mr. Miller’s victim was more than another statistic; it’s a life cut short by greed,” he stated.
Michael Alfonso, acting Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations New York, added that the illegal drugs being trafficked are a lethal threat, and his agency is committed to disrupting drug trafficking organizations that put profit over human lives.
According to court documents, Miller distributed the deadly mixture to an individual who died in October 2022. The investigation led law enforcement to recover evidence linking the substances to Miller, including wax folds with his unique stamp.
