Kenneth Dale White Jr., Pain Pill Prescription Fraud, West Virginia 2015

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The gritty streets of St. Albans were hit with a federal drug crime today as Kenneth Dale White Jr., 31, pleaded guilty to his involvement in a cunning scheme to obtain pain pills through deceit and fraud.

White, the 31-year-old from St. Albans, admitted to obtaining a pre-printed prescription pad belonging to a local doctor before April 2015. Between April 12, 2015, and May 7, 2015, he and an accomplice lured individuals into a fraudulent scheme that targeted Kanawha County pharmacies.

The duo directed their unsuspecting recruits to pose as legitimate patients, using forged prescriptions for oxycodone and Xanax. They were paid in cash for filling the fraudulent scripts or allowed to keep a small portion of the illicit drugs. The remainder was funneled back to White and his co-conspirator.

On March 6, 2017, White will face up to four years in federal prison as a result of his crimes. The investigation into this case was a collaborative effort by the Dunbar Police Department, South Charleston Police Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Assistant United States Attorney Timothy D. Boggess is leading the prosecution against White, who appeared before United States District Judge Thomas E. Johnston for his plea hearing.

This case underscores an ongoing campaign by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia to crack down on prescription drug abuse and trafficking. The U.S. Attorney’s Office, in partnership with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, is relentless in its pursuit of illegal pill trafficking operations and their intent to eliminate open-air drug markets and curtail the opiate crisis affecting communities across the region.
