Don-Luke George, Conspiracy to Possess Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, United States Virgin Islands 2019

ST. CROIX, USVI – A bold conspiracy to transport massive amounts of cocaine through St. Croix’s Henry E. Rohlsen Airport has reached its conclusion as Don-Luke George, 24, pleaded guilty on May 23, 2019, to one count of Conspiracy to Possess Cocaine with Intent to Distribute.

According to court documents, George, a seemingly ordinary employee at the airport, was involved in an intricate plot to smuggle 2.01 kilograms of cocaine from St. Croix to Miami using American Airlines flight #2227. The defendant’s co-conspirator was poised to board the plane with the drugs when intercepted by Customs and Border Protection officers.

The scheme was meticulously planned, with George clandestinely smuggling four bricks of cocaine into the airport’s passenger waiting area, delivering them to his co-defendant in a men’s restroom. George’s employment at the airport provided him with the perfect cover for such a daring operation.

United States Attorney Gretchen C.F. Shappert announced that George now faces a heavy sentence, potentially up to 40 years in prison, along with a fine of $250,000 and at least four years of supervised release following his incarceration.

This case was diligently investigated by Customs and Border Protection and Homeland Security Investigations, with the DEA Southeast Laboratory in Miami analyzing the seized cocaine. Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel H. Huston prosecuted the case.

Sentencing for George is set for September 25, 2019, where the full extent of his punishment will be determined.
