The Department of Justice’s Office of Public Affairs announced the sentencing today.
Relles, who pleaded guilty on September 4, 2012, to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, was handed down the severe punishment by U.S. District Judge Michael H. Schneider in a court session that saw a $2,000 forfeiture judgment imposed against him as well.
According to court documents, Relles was caught with approximately 66.9 grams of pure meth on February 20, 2012, ready for distribution across the Eastern District of Texas. The federal grand jury indicted him for his crimes on April 11, 2012.
The DEA and Tyler Police Department conducted the investigation that led to Relles’s conviction, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Baldwin handled the prosecution.
