Gregory Pum, Child Pornography Possession, New York 2024

GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: Gregory Pum, a 48-year-old Rochester sex offender, has pleaded guilty to new child pornography charges. U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced that Pum faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison for possession of child pornography by an individual with a prior sex offense conviction.

Pum’s previous transgressions include a 2014 conviction in Monroe County Court for Possessing Sexual Performance by a Child Less than 16, resulting in six months’ jail time and 10 years’ probation. He violated his probation, leading to a resentencing that included prison time before being discharged from parole on May 31, 2016.

The latest charges stem from two cybertips in May 2022, which led law enforcement to seize electronic devices containing child pornography images and video at Pum’s residence. An iPhone seized during another search warrant in March 2024 revealed additional child pornographic material.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Nicholas M. Testani and Meghan K. McGuire are handling the case, with support from the New York State Police, FBI, and NCMEC. Sentencing for Pum is set for September 20, 2024, before U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa.

This conviction serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against cyber predators who exploit children, and the relentless efforts of law enforcement to protect our communities from such heinous acts.
