Allison Faith Battles, Theft of Government Funds, OK, 2014

Ardmore’s Allison Faith Battles, 29, has copped to a serious charge of Theft Of Government Funds, entering a guilty plea in the Eastern District of Oklahoma. The charges stem from an alleged scheme to embezzle and convert over $1,000 meant for food stamps and medical benefits.

Battles was indicted back in January 2014, after an investigation by the Social Security Administration’s Office of Inspector General revealed fraudulent activities. Prosecutors claim Battles willfully and knowingly took money she knew she wasn’t entitled to between July 2009 and April 2012.

The scheme involved false statements and representations within the jurisdiction of the Social Security Administration, a federal agency responsible for administering such benefits. The defendant’s actions were deemed material and fraudulent by the court.

Judge Kimberly E. West has ordered the completion of a presentence report before scheduling sentencing. Battles faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000, as per the statutory range of punishment for her crimes.

Assistant United States Attorney Chris Wilson represented the United States in this case. The outcome serves as a stark reminder of the consequences faced by those who misuse government funds for personal gain.

Battles’s guilty plea underscores the ongoing efforts by federal authorities to combat fraud and protect public resources. The case is a testament to the commitment to justice within the Eastern District of Oklahoma’s legal system.
