Cameron Jake Tucker, a 26-year-old Bacliff resident, has been convicted of operating a stash house in Houston where he held an illegal alien for ransom. The victim, who escaped without shoes, money, or identification, alleged he was held against his will and assaulted with a revolver when his family couldn’t pay additional smuggling fees. The incident occurred on May 14, 2025, and led to a three-day trial that ended in Tucker’s guilty verdict.
The investigation began after the victim escaped through a second-story window and led authorities to the stash house. Tucker attempted to flee but was apprehended and found to be in possession of four firearms, including the revolver used in the assault. The defense claimed the victim fabricated the events to obtain immigration benefits, but the jury didn’t buy it, and Tucker was found guilty as charged.
Tucker’s conviction is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating human trafficking and smuggling. He faces up to life imprisonment and a $250,000 fine when sentenced on October 15. The case was investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations, the Houston Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Benjamin Hostetter and Jay Hileman, with U.S. District Judge David Hittner presiding over the trial. Tucker has been and will remain in custody pending his sentencing hearing.
