Stephen A. Davidow, Bank Robbery, Massachusetts 2018

A brazen bank robber has been brought to justice after pleading guilty to four counts of bank robbery in a federal court in Boston.

The defendant, Stephen A. Davidow, 55, of Pawtucket, R.I., admitted to carrying out a string of robberies between December 6 and 11, 2017, in the Greater Boston area.

The robberies took place at four different banks, and the suspect was identified through a combination of physical evidence, surveillance footage, and eyewitness testimony. On December 15, 2017, law enforcement received a tip that the suspect was Davidow, and he was subsequently identified by a bank teller as the perpetrator.

Davidow was on supervised release at the time of the robberies for a 2007 bank robbery conviction in Rhode Island. He was arrested on December 18, 2017, in Massachusetts on a Rhode Island federal warrant.

The charges against Davidow carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. Sentencing is scheduled for December 20, 2018.

United States Attorney Andrew E. Lelling and other law enforcement officials made the announcement, crediting the teamwork and dedication of the agencies involved in the investigation and prosecution of the case.

Davidow’s guilty plea brings closure to the victims and the community, and serves as a reminder that bank robbery will not be tolerated in our city.
