Grimy Times has learned that Stephen Bean, 55, of Norway, Maine, pled guilty to possessing firearms after a 2005 felony conviction for operating after revocation.
Bean, a resident of Norway, Maine, was encountered by Maine Game Wardens on November 21, 2015, while hunting with two other men in the Paris, Maine area.
An investigation revealed that Bean was providing the firearms to his companions, a shotgun and a rifle, which were later seized by authorities.
A search of Bean’s residence on January 7, 2016, led to the discovery of another shotgun and rifle, further exacerbating the situation.
According to court records, Bean was prohibited from possessing firearms due to his 2005 felony conviction for operating after revocation in Maine state court.
Bean faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, pending the completion of a presentence investigation report by the U.S. Probation Office.
The case was investigated by the Maine Warden Service and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, with Assistant United States Attorney Michael J. Conley handling the prosecution.
Bean will be sentenced after the completion of the presentence investigation report, which is expected to shed more light on the severity of the crime and the defendant’s culpability.
