Stephen G. Dambruch Takes Helm as Acting US Attorney in Rhode Island

Stephen G. Dambruch, a seasoned prosecutor with over two decades of experience, has been named Acting United States Attorney for the District of Rhode Island following the departure of former US Attorney Peter F. Neronha. Dambruch’s appointment, made pursuant to the Vacancies Reform Act, is effective immediately.

As Acting US Attorney, Dambruch will serve as the chief federal law enforcement officer for the district, overseeing a team of dedicated prosecutors and law enforcement agents. Dambruch’s experience in federal and state prosecution will undoubtedly bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role.

Dambruch’s own career in law enforcement has been marked by notable achievements. He was appointed as an Assistant United States Attorney in January 2004 and later served as the Criminal Division Chief in February 2007. His casework has included significant narcotics and public corruption matters, demonstrating his commitment to upholding the rule of law.

Before joining the US Attorney’s Office, Dambruch served as a state prosecutor with the Rhode Island Department of Attorney General for over sixteen years. During this time, he held various high-ranking positions, including Chief of the Narcotics Prosecution Unit, Chief Prosecutor for Kent, Newport and Washington Counties, and Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division.

Dambruch is a proud graduate of Providence College, earning his degree in 1982. He later received his law degree from Boston College Law School in 1985. Despite his impressive credentials, Dambruch remains committed to serving the people of Rhode Island and upholding the principles of justice.

In a statement, Dambruch announced that the leadership team in the US Attorney’s Office will remain unchanged. This continuity will undoubtedly provide stability and reassurance to the community during this transition period.
