MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – In a shocking turn of events, Sterling Ross IV, 31, of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to Felon in Possession of Ammunition, a crime that has left the community reeling.

According to court documents, Ross was found to be in possession of 12 rounds of 9mm Lugar ammunition on April 29, 2024, despite having been previously convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year imprisonment.

The investigation into Ross’s activities was led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and is part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) initiative, a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in neighborhoods across the country.

PSN, which was launched in 2021, is a collaborative effort between law enforcement agencies and community organizations to foster trust and legitimacy, support community-based programs, and set focused enforcement priorities.

The Honorable Jason A. Robertson, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted Ross’s plea and ordered a presentence investigation report. Ross will remain in the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending sentencing.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael E. Robinson represented the United States in this case, bringing a sense of justice to the community.
