A disturbing incident in Mission, South Dakota, has led to the sentencing of a local man for Assault by Striking, Beating, or Wounding. On June 7, 2019, Steven McDaniel, a 33-year-old Mission resident, committed the violent act against his intimate partner.
The assault led to a federal indictment by a grand jury on December 17, 2019. McDaniel eventually pled guilty on February 26, 2021, after a thorough investigation by the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services.
