Steven R. Schenian Jr., a 38-year-old Manitowoc man, has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for his involvement in a conspiracy to distribute cocaine and carrying a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense.

According to court documents, Schenian Jr. appeared in federal court in Green Bay on July 25, 2016, where he was sentenced by Chief United States District Court Judge William C. Griesbach.

The judge noted the ‘special danger to the community’ inherent when drug traffickers possess firearms, and condemned Schenian Jr.’s involvement in several violent drug-related acts, including the beating of a drug associate whom he suspected of theft.

Following his release from prison, Schenian Jr. will serve 10 years on federal supervised release.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, and the Manitowoc Area MEG Unit.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Daniel R. Humble.

The sentence handed down by Judge Griesbach reflects the severity of the crimes committed by Schenian Jr. and serves as a warning to others involved in similar activities.
